From the colmado three minutes up the road to the big stores in Guayama — and where to find real Puerto Rican crafts without driving to Ponce.
Closest to you
Colmados and the town market
The closest colmado, on Route 3 at km 121, next door to the bar of the same name. Small but stocked: groceries, beer and wine, frozen meat, cleaning supplies, even a corner of hardware and basic medicines. Seven days, 8am to 7pm. If you have run out of coffee or ice, this is the trip — no need to drive into town.
The other colmado nearby, out in Lamboglia. 7am to 7pm, seven days. What they keep in the back room surprises people — neighbours report leaving with a raincoat, and with a machete.
The town market, with food kiosks and local produce. 8am to 5pm, until 7pm Friday and Saturday; closed Sunday. Inside you will find Diri's Place, serving breakfast from 7am, and PINCHOREPAS with its octopus arepas.
The big stores
In Guayama, 20 minutes away
Over eighty stores under one roof. Econo, Burlington, Marshalls, Ross, Pepe Ganga and Foot Locker anchor it, with Bath & Body Works, Pandora, Journeys, Bakers, Rainbow, Me Salvé, La Gran Vía and a row of jewellers alongside. To eat: Dragon House for Chinese with a drive-thru, Santi's Grill, Baskin-Robbins, The Matcha Lab and the Mirador food court. There is a Caribbean Cinemas, and Recuerdos de Borikén for crafts and Puerto Rican souvenirs. Monday to Thursday 9am–7pm, Friday and Saturday until 9pm, Sunday 11am–6pm. The tenant list changes, so check theirs before counting on any one store.
For anything the town does not carry. Seven days, 6am–11pm, with groceries, hardware and beach gear under one roof. The closest thing to a store that has everything.
Crafts
For something worth taking home
Puerto Rican crafts and souvenirs, right on the Guayama plaza. If you are after something to take home, there is no need to drive to Ponce.
